Keeping with our atmosphere and goals for class, The Superior Cigar Lounge maintains a dress code of Cocktail Attire; a level of dress that strikes a balance between casual daywear and black-tie eveningwear. Think refined, festive, and tailored - but not overly formal.
This dress code is gendered purely for convenience, and the Superior Cigar Lounge respects the right of any guest to dress outside of their assigned or expressed gender (men in dresses, women in suits, etc.)
Men
- Suit: Dark or neutral-colored suit (navy, charcoal, black, deep forest green, etc.). Fabrics should be clean and smooth — avoid heavy tweeds or overly shiny materials. Suits may be single- or double-breasted, although sports coats and tuxedo jackets are strictly not allowed.
- Shirt: Crisp collared dress shirt, typically white, pale blue, or subtle patterns. French cuffs are preferred.
- Tie: Neckties are expected, although not strictly required; bowties are not allowed outside of specific cases. If guests choose to wear a tie, a solid or subtly patterned tie is preferred.
- Shoes: Leather dress shoes (Oxfords, Derbies, or brogues). Black or dark brown, well-polished.
- Accessories: A belt that matches the shoes, and optionally a clean watch and/or pocket square. Avoid overly flashy jewelry.
- Avoid: Sneakers, short-sleeve shirts, polo shirts, jeans, oversized blazers, novelty ties.
Women
- Dresses: A knee-length or just above/below the knee dress, or a sleek midi. Fabrics like silk, chiffon, crepe, satin, or structured knits are ideal.
- Alternative Options: A tailored jumpsuit, stylish pantsuit, or a sleek matching two-piece outfit are acceptable if elegant and well-fitted.
- Shoes: Heels (pumps, strappy sandals, or block heels) or sophisticated flats.
- Accessories: Statement earrings or a clutch, tasteful makeup, and polished hair. Shawls or wraps are good for cool evenings.
- Avoid: Ballroom gowns (too formal), casual sundresses, denim jackets, loud clubwear, and flip-flops.
Unisex/Nonbinary
- Tailored Pieces: Structured blazers, jumpsuits, or two-piece suits in cocktail fabrics (silk, crepe, wool blend).
- Tops: Blouses, crisp dress shirts, or elevated turtlenecks with fine detailing (pleats, buttons, subtle sheen).
- Bottoms: Tapered dress pants, tailored trousers, midi skirts, or flowy slacks. Aim for sharp silhouettes.
- Footwear: Loafers, oxfords, heeled boots, or elegant flats. Shoes should complement the outfit’s tone and be in good condition.
- Accessories: Jewelry, bags, or ties/scarves that reflect one’s personal style. Pocket squares and brooches can elevate and personalize.
Exceptions
Lewdness
Even if not otherwise against the dress code, lewd or otherwise intentionally sexual accessories or garments are forbidden.
Religious Attire
The Superior Cigar Lounge welcomes all guests, regardless of background. Religious attire such as hijabs, bekishe, and accessories such as kippahs are allowed without question, and guests who follow faiths requiring specific modesty standards are welcome to wear them even if they do not strictly fit the dress code otherwise.
